I suspect you have a configuration error.

The server asks for authentication for EVERY request.  The client usually
caches the username/password and supplies it without reprompting the
user.  Perhaps you changed the AuthName, which will result in the client
reprompting?

If that is not the problem, feel free to reopen the report, but please
supply more details about exactly what the server is doing that is wrong.
