http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12464 Apache2.x fails to start on Win2k [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |REOPENED Resolution|INVALID | Version|2.0.32 |2.0.43 ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2002-10-19 20:12 ------- Listen out to this first before u are in a rush to close this bug again: When I try starting it via the Service Start option, it fails saying that the following: "Windows could not start the Apache2 on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is not-Miscrosoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1." So then I go to the Event Logs and look into the System Log and see the following: "The Apache2 service terminated with service-specific error 1. " Then I look into the Application Log inside the Event Viewer and see two entries and they are the following: 1. "The Apache service named reported the following error: >>> Syntax error on line 475 of C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf: " 2. "The Apache service named reported the following error: >>> <Directory "E:/Test/Monkey/"> path is invalid. " Now E:\ is valid NFS mounted drive on my machine and I can reach it and retrieve all the files. If I remove this Directory Alias from the httpd.conf file APache starts up WITHOUT any problem. But the moment I put it back in it fails. Now if leave the service part and keep the same httpd.conf file which has the NFS mounted E:\ drive files and just to to the C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin directory and just click on the Apache.exe executable, it launches a command window and the webserver starts up and I am able to view all the E:\ drive files from a browser. I hope I have presented enough clarification on this BUG! I don't want to be pointed again to that old documentation link that only talks about the 1.3.1 release. Again I am running the 2.0.43 Apache binary. Thanks and I hope to get a resolution on it soon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
