http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=15380 httpd 2.0.43 long running processes using lots of CPU until forcibly terminated Summary: httpd 2.0.43 long running processes using lots of CPU until forcibly terminated Product: Apache httpd-2.0 Version: 2.0.43 Platform: HP URL: http://www.cityofdunedin.com/ OS/Version: HP-UX Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: Other Component: Platform AssignedTo: [email protected] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] We are running Apache httpd 2.0.43 on HP-UX 11.0 and nearly every day there are httpd processes which are [supposedly] consuming a lot of CPU resource. Having said that there appears to be not appreciable impact on response times for other requests. The httpd processes in question show up at the head of a "top" list. The same processes are indentifiable in a server-status page with a status of "G" {gracefully finishing). Typically the server-status page shows that the last requests where GETS for file system gifs and that there are substantial number of seconds (eg. 252506) since a request was last actioned on that process. I have determined that I can kill the processes without any apparent harm to other the web server processes. I cannot stop them with a reset of the web server &, as this is a production environment, I haven't tried complete stop to see the effect of that.
