http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=18140 Apache and McAffe virus scan hang Windows Summary: Apache and McAffe virus scan hang Windows Product: Apache httpd-2.0 Version: 2.0.44 Platform: PC OS/Version: Windows XP Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: Other Component: All AssignedTo: [email protected] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Windows XP (latest patches), McAffe virus scan (latest version), Apache 2.0.44. I have tried both WebDAV and web pages (with basic authentication). When accessing the Apache-based pages (or Webfolders), very basic pages get through (i.e. the main page with no authentication), but all other pages hang- up Internet Explorer or take a very long time (45 minutes or more) and do not allow java applets to be run (probably due to a timeout). Furthermore, when using DAV, the web folder can only be mounted using: net use * http:\\ipaddress\DAVfolder /user:username * The command line (cmd.exe) can list files, and you can use the command line editor to edit files (or the copy command to copy the files to a local directory), but when you use Internet Explorer or the windows Explorer, all activity ceases (freezing all copies of Internet Explorer and Explorer, including the desktop). When the McAffe virus checker is diabled (or uninstalled), all works fine. However opening any file using the latest Microsoft Word works fine (as if Word was not using explorer nor the GUI shell to list directories and open files). Furthermore, if you configure McAffe to exclude the mounted Apache data (windows drive containing the Web folder mounted using the "net use" command), there will be no more problem ... as long as the Web folder is mounted AFTER the user has fully logged in (using the option net use ... /PERSISTENT:YES will result in GUI shell hangup, regardless of the exclusion settings). I hope I have given enough details, please do not hesitate to contact me for more info. Regards, and thanks for Apache, great software ;-) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
