apache (prefork, ssl) hangs after some hours of running

If Apache is hung, one set of doc that is often helpful is backtraces of the
child processes.  On Solaris you can do that for a particular child process
using the pstack command.

Presumably many of the pstacks show the same backtrace (many child processes
waiting for some particular mutex).  You only need to submit that backtrace once
(but tell how many children had that backtrace).  Some backtrace(s) should be
different and would indicate a process that is holding a critical mutex but for
some reason is not finishing its work and releasing it.
