I'm using gentoo myself and therefore just downloaded the package to have a look at it. The config contains a lot of weird +/- options, e.g. Options -All -Multiviews or Options -Indexes FollowSymlinks It's very likely that this configuration stategy breaks something at some point. (side note: 2.0.47 changed the manual configuration, that needs to be adjusted in the package files as well ...)
