"HostnameLookups On" ... doesn't

------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-12-14 19:31 -------
With the APR in 2.0.47, APR disabled IPv6 support on OS X due to inability to
look up hostname given a IPv4-mapped IPv6 address. That inability broke Apache
functions like the one you mention.

With the APR in 2.0.48, autodetection was put into place t see if the hostname
can be looked up given a IPv4-mapped IPv6 address. Unfortunately, it looks to
me that the autodetection is broken. It doesn't detect that the hostname lookup
failed, since it passes the NI_NUMERICHOST flag to getnameinfo().

The recommended work-around is to code IPv4 sockets on your Apache Listen
statement(s). IOW, use

Listen 0.0.0.0:80
Listen 0.0.0.0:443

instead of

Listen 80
Listen 443
