XP doesnt run apache

           Summary: XP doesnt run apache
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.48
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Other
         Component: All
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Installed Apache with no problems. Ran Apache and it executed fine, though
whenever i tried accessing it as localhost or 127.0.0.1 (after following
install instructions on multiple sites specifying it should work) nothing would
appear, it would load for several minutes and never complete or actually load
anything or it might report a dsn error every so often under certain
circumstances. Installed it many times alternating between console and service,
and changing the port from 80 to 8080 and vice versa. I saw you had an article
about XP not working without SP1, and I have SP1 and SP2 installed. Checked the
online forums and the web and found no solutions but other users with the same
problem. I installed it on my old 166MHz comp running win 98 and it worked
fine. Installed it exactly the same on the XP comp again and still didn't work.
Downloaded the old version 28 or 29 I believe, and it worked fine. I believe
there must be some incompatibility between this newest version and win XP. You
may want to make a mention of it on your site since I've seen numerous posts on
the forums and the web about this problem and no solutions.

sorry for writing so much, just wanna be thorough
