http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=28545 New version of Apache 2.40/2.46 do not honour connection:close Summary: New version of Apache 2.40/2.46 do not honour connection:close Product: Apache httpd-2.0 Version: 2.0-HEAD Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: Other Component: Platform AssignedTo: [email protected] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, I noticed a problem on a few apache servers running on Linux. It appears that instead of closing the connection immediately after serving the page when the request contains connection:close the web server does not terminate the connection for at least 15 seconds. This can easily be produced with telnet. Simply telnet to a 2.40+ Apache server on Linux and request a page like the following example (note host has been changed to protect the innocent). telnet yourdomain.co.uk 80 HEAD /index.php HTTP/1.1 Host: www.yourdomain.co.uk Connection: close Cache-Control: no-cache Accept: */* On all other servers I have seen and older Apache servers the telnet connection is closed immedately after serving the page. For some reason newer versions of Apache hang around for up to 15 seconds. Apologies if this has been reported or is not a bug. I had a good look througth the bug database and could find nothing similar and have not been able to find any resoultion to the issue either. I assume this could cause a resource issue on the server and certainly effects certain type of client. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
