Backreference in RedirectMatch always inserts $1 at the end of destination url

           Summary: Backreference in RedirectMatch always inserts $1 at the
                    end of destination url
           Product: Apache httpd-1.3
           Version: 1.3.29
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Other
         Component: core
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Given a VirtualHost setup that looks like:

<VirtualHost *>
   ServerName rd.example.com
   ServerAdmin [EMAIL PROTECTED]
   RedirectMatch permanent (.*)$ http://rd.example.net/rd$1\&siteid=example
</VirtualHost>

I would expect a request for a url like:

http://rd.example.com/?r=i126c14p127n5819&u=3CA930F736

to redirect to:

http://rd.example.net/rd/?r=i126c14p127n5819&u=3CA930F736&siteid=example

but the resulting url is in fact:

http://rd.example.net/rd/&siteid=example?r=i126c14p127n5819&u=3CA930F736

which given the example in the RedirectMatch documentation and simple
expectation, seems like a bug in mod_alias.

This behavior is seen with 1.3.29 on RedHat Linux 7.1 and 7.3 built with the
following config.status:

./configure \
"--with-layout=Apache" \
"--enable-module=so" \
"--enable-module=headers" \
"--enable-shared=info" \
"--activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a" \
"$@"
