Hmmm...  I guess I don't know where exactly it crashes recently, but at least
one of my previous notes was of it crashing in util_ald_create_cache().

In any event, I consistently have it crash on the very first request requiring
LDAP authentication (with 2.0.49 on Solaris and AIX, but not on Windows)
unless/until I disable sharing of the caches across processes -- at which point
I only have the cache overflow issue, which I agree is a very separate and
distinct bug.
