After figuring out that it was linked to the _default_ VHOST, I reproduced the problem on a test server by modifying the resolver configuration in nsswitch.conf ("hosts: files" instead of "hosts: files dns"). After having replaced _default_ by an IP address, the server started normally. I then tried to apply the same fix to the production server, replacing _default_ by an IP address, but without any luck; it still coredumped.
