On one of my boxes I stopped apache and restarted it so I could watch from scratch. Over about 20 minutes the box got about 250 requests. Looking at Top and ps there were 70 apache procs, and they were at 40MB at the end of the 20 minutes. On boxes that don't call the miss plugin the apache procs always stay at between 9MB and 10MB.
