Yup, that's just wrong already...

Not really, you can't run without a mutex...

No because you presume that 'worker.c', for example, tells you something
useful.  It doesn't - on Solaris you want to avoid file:, on Win32 you
use the default: flavor.  Better that we trust the judgement of APR of
which is optimal, and fix any problems in APR about any wrong choices.
