I just went through the code in mod_dav.c and checked the cases in which the
lockdb would be opened read/write. The cases which I found for
(MOVE|COPY|PUT|MKCOL) seem reasonable, so I checked my packet dump and it seems
the problem is caused by:

one PROPFIND (depth:1 causes a 13MB response), this response is written into a
broken socket (since ACKs do not come in), => poll() locks up

the rest of the children is then locked up in the write-lock request (as straced
above) when doing MKCOL/PUTs.
