It is not a wise idea to mix this. If you want to use a different openssl version on RH3 you need to check all system libraries of RH3 that are linked against httpd if they are linked against the system openssl. To avoid trouble you need to recompile each of these libaries yourself against your openssl and compile httpd later against your openssl and these libraries.
