http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=40328 ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2006-09-05 14:42 ------- >Was that taking into account when Apache 2.1/2.2 >was being written? >If not, why not? Who knows? That has been a long time ago. Certainly it was tested with non-Bash default system shells on several platforms, but that is not really the big picture on how portability issues are considered and implemented. Generally speaking: The OSs accounted for in any given level of the source are those actually used by the developers and other contributers. For major design issues, a reasonable attempt will be made to avoid creating APIs or features which can't possibly be implemented in the future on platforms we know about. (There is no requirement that it actually work on every platform when first implemented.) For features like this which have portability concerns, it is expected that if/when it breaks on some platform, somebody who wants it to work on that platform will report the issue and help figure out how to make it work. We're not going to keep features out because there might just be a platform where it doesn't work. -- Configure bugmail: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
