Summary: Apache hang permanently and works fine only after
                    restart
           Product: Apache httpd-1.3
           Version: 1.3.26
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Windows 2000
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P1
         Component: Other
        AssignedTo: [email protected]

HI

      I am having "Apache/1.3.26 (Win32) mod_jk mod_ssl/2.8.10 OpenSSL/0.9.6d"
as a web server ,Tomcat 4.0 as application server.

And I am having Win 2000 OS.

The problem is that during production hours Apache hangs permanently and it
runs fine only on restarting Apache. Browser (IE) simply hangs at that time and
continously keeps on rotating and ultimately after a long search it gives
the "page cannot be displayed" error.I cann't figure out which particular
activity is making Apache to hang.

This happens usually 2 to 3 times everyday. But sometimes entire day passes
without this also.

This problem is pending for the last 3 months. I have tried everyting being it
be changes in the configuration of Apache or detecting if there is some port
conflict with Apache (80 or 443). But could not come up with any solution.I
studied all the logs (Apache error.log , mod_jk.log) but could not sort out
anything from that.

Also one another thing, some of internal users connect directly to Apache.
While some internet users connect through "Proxy (Squid)" which further simply
forward it to the production server on port 80 where Apache(Http) is listening.

Please if anybody can tell me the solution that would be appreciated.

Regards
Satinder
