Unfortunately before we could run the following script Apache recovered!
1. for pid in `ps -eaf | fgrep httpd | cut -d' ' -f4`
    do
        pstack $pid >> outage_data
    done
2. pstree -Gph | grep httpd >> outage_data
3.ps aux | grep httpd >> outage_data
4.strace -f httpd -d /usr/local/apache59 >& strace_output

<let us know if you need any more commands to be added.>
The strange thing now is that Apache recovers after an hour of so on its own.
during this time we can ping the machine from outside.
server-status page will not be available (any page for that matter)

Can you suggest us any angle where we can investigate this issue.
