I have no reason to believe that things would be any different now. As I said in bug 13986, at this point things are pretty much moot: all the browsers have been forced to work around this Apache issue by breaking the HTTP spec and either sniffing for the "real" type (e.g. IE) or just trying to guess whether the data should really be application/octet-stream (e.g. Gecko) when they get a type of text/plain.
