Similar to Bug report 31210 "Problematic competition between mod_rewrite and 
mod_dir"
Our Env:
AIX 5300-05-06
Apache 2.2.6
PHP 2.2.5

With both modules loaded, we get a response like: 
- Requests per second:  0.51 [#/sec]
With deactivated mod_dir or mod_rewrite we have a response like:
- Requests per second:  444.01 [#/sec] to 1800 [#/sec] 

We need urgent help!!
