this may be already done - I hope it has. The internet is running out of
TCP/IPv4 addresses and will be full up in 3 years according to a London report.
this means support for ip addresses with 6 numbers separated by periods if I am
not mistaken.

there are also some rather unusual addressing methods defined, including one
that involvdes hexadecimal...

you can even address the individual ethernet card with a %eth0 near the end.
frankly, I don't see any configuration examples that include IPv6.
it is now July 2008.
