           Summary: Improvement Suggestion
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.3-HEAD
          Platform: All
               URL: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/howto/auth.html
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P2
         Component: Documentation
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I would like to suggest that the authentication howto for apache 2.x
(http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/howto/auth.html) be updated include a
reference to the Satisfy directive and maybe a little bit of text detailing its
usage.

The old 1.3 howto includes details about Satisfy, but the new docs don't. As a
relatively inexperience admin, it took me about five times longer than it
should have done to figure out how to configure mod_access and mod_auth to work
together in an either/or fashion (i.e. Satisfy Any) - and that was only after a
little lateral thinking caused me to check the old 1.3 howto.

I'm not entirely sure if a bug report is the correct mechanism for this
suggestion, but looking at the docs project page
(http://httpd.apache.org/docs-project/) it appears to be.
