I do not think of "black" people when I hear the term. But I can imagine a person of dark skin being uncomfortable about the term. If a term is offensive to people, we should find an alternative. It's not a mistake of people being offended. That being said, maybe people would not feel so bad about the term if they were not black listed because of their skin colour in the first place.
