It successfully supports my use case: my ReverseProxy authenticates itself at a ForwardProxy. The patch r1881790 also includes an older patch which changes/fixes the logic, in which cases the Proxy-Authorization header is passed through: r1859713. I would vote to apply them to the 2.4.x release branch even if the proxyname:port and proxy credentials are transported on different ways.
