I've successfully booted from the Jul 23 snap several times and can *not* repeat the hang. So, this PR should be closed since I can't further troubleshoot it. For the record, I've appended the diff between the one failed boot and a good one. Maybe my hardware is starting to fail... Some strangeness gleaned from that diff: o cpu1 at ~0 MHz o em0: Hardware Initialization Failed o em0: Unable to initialize the hardware o viapm0: timeout, status 0x41<BUSY,INUSE> o viapm0: transaction abort failed, status 0x42<INTR,INUSE> o no memory discovered... Anyway, I'm very sorry for the noise generated by this apparent one-time anomaly. --- dmesg.boot Sat Jul 24 15:53:32 2010 +++ dmesg.fail Sat Jul 24 15:54:39 2010 @@ -12,14 +12,14 @@ acpitimer0 at acpi0: 3579545 Hz, 24 bits acpimadt0 at acpi0 addr 0xfee00000: PC-AT compat cpu0 at mainbus0: apid 0 (boot processor) -cpu0: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 2002.87 MHz +cpu0: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 2002.84 MHz cpu0: FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,CFLUSH,MMX,FXSR,SSE,SSE2,HTT,SSE3,NXE,MMXX,FFXSR,LONG,3DNOW2,3DNOW cpu0: 64KB 64b/line 2-way I-cache, 64KB 64b/line 2-way D-cache, 512KB 64b/line 16-way L2 cache cpu0: ITLB 32 4KB entries fully associative, 8 4MB entries fully associative cpu0: DTLB 32 4KB entries fully associative, 8 4MB entries fully associative -cpu0: apic clock running at 200MHz +cpu0: apic clock running at 0MHz cpu1 at mainbus0: apid 1 (application processor) -cpu1: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 2002.56 MHz +cpu1: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 0.56 MHz cpu1: FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,CFLUSH,MMX,FXSR,SSE,SSE2,HTT,SSE3,NXE,MMXX,FFXSR,LONG,3DNOW2,3DNOW cpu1: 64KB 64b/line 2-way I-cache, 64KB 64b/line 2-way D-cache, 512KB 64b/line 16-way L2 cache cpu1: ITLB 32 4KB entries fully associative, 8 4MB entries fully associative @@ -49,7 +49,7 @@ skc0 at pci0 dev 10 function 0 "Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010" rev 0x13, Yukon Lite (0x9): apic 2 int 17 (irq 11) sk0 at skc0 port A: address 00:15:f2:44:40:ad eephy0 at sk0 phy 0: 88E1011 Gigabit PHY, rev. 5 -em0 at pci0 dev 12 function 0 "Intel PRO/1000GT (82541GI)" rev 0x05: apic 2 int 17 (irq 11), address 00:1b:21:2e:39:c4 +em0 at pci0 dev 12 function 0 "Intel PRO/1000GT (82541GI)" rev 0x05: apic 2 int 17 (irq 11)em0: Hardware Initialization Failedem0: Unable to initialize the hardware ami0 at pci0 dev 14 function 0 "Symbios Logic MegaRAID" rev 0x01: apic 2 int 19 (irq 3) ami0: LSI 523, 32b, FW 713S, BIOS vG121, 64MB RAM ami0: 1 channels, 0 FC loops, 5 logical drives @@ -85,8 +85,10 @@ uhub0 at usb0 "VIA EHCI root hub" rev 2.00/1.00 addr 1 viapm0 at pci0 dev 17 function 0 "VIA VT8237 ISA" rev 0x00 iic0 at viapm0 -spdmem0 at iic0 addr 0x50: 512MB DDR SDRAM ECC PC3200CL3.0 -spdmem1 at iic0 addr 0x51: 512MB DDR SDRAM ECC PC3200CL3.0 +viapm0: timeout, status 0x41<BUSY,INUSE> +viapm0: transaction abort failed, status 0x42<INTR,INUSE> +viapm0: timeout, status 0x41<BUSY,INUSE> +viapm0: transaction abort failed, status 0x42<INTR,INUSE> auvia0 at pci0 dev 17 function 5 "VIA VT8233 AC97" rev 0x60: apic 2 int 22 (irq 10) ac97: codec id 0x414c4790 (Avance Logic ALC850 rev 0) audio0 at auvia0 @@ -110,15 +112,17 @@ pckbd0 at pckbc0 (kbd slot) pckbc0: using irq 1 for kbd slot wskbd0 at pckbd0: console keyboard, using wsdisplay0 -pms0 at pckbc0 (aux slot) -pckbc0: using irq 12 for aux slot -wsmouse0 at pms0 mux 0 pcppi0 at isa0 port 0x61 midi0 at pcppi0: <PC speaker> spkr0 at pcppi0 wbsio0 at isa0 port 0x2e/2: W83627THF rev 0x84 lm1 at wbsio0 port 0x290/8: W83627THF fdc0 at isa0 port 0x3f0/6 irq 6 drq 2 -mtrr: Pentium Pro MTRR support -softraid0 at root -root on sd0a swap on sd0b dump on sd0b +pckbcintr: no dev for slot 1 +pckbcintr: no dev for slot 1 +pckbc: command timeout +pckbc: command timeout +pckbc: command timeout +pckbc: command timeout +pckbc: command timeout
