Before I bring the interface up, the LED that's on my netbook's rf key
(fn+F12) is turned off.  While it's echoing "sending frame qid=5
wcid=255 ..." it erratically switches on and off, then when the module
gives up and starts exclusively spamming "GP timeout state=1", it turns
off completely.  After doing this, the LED switches ON if a bring the
interface down!

The only way to repeat the LED oddity is if I change the mediaopt; e.g.,
 % ifconfig ral0 media auto mediaopt monitor
 % ifconfig ral0 media auto mediaopt ibss

I get no results when I do ifconfig ral0 scan, nor do other cards in the
vicinity pick it up when I use mediaopt hostap.
