>Description:
when creating a ppd file for my canon pixma mp190 i got stuck in the
last
step, when cups in the browser told me, that it could not generate the
ppd file due to the permission issues. I did chmod 777 on the
/etc/cups/ppd but it did not help. When I created the ppd file using the
same driver ghostscript-simplified-en for MP180, it worked all right.
There must be some small stupid mistake in where the engine puts the ppd
file.
>How-To-Repeat:
0. make sure you have installed cups foomatic-* gutenprint and
ghostscript
1. start cupsd
2. open lynx 127.0.0.1:631
3. go to administration and try to add a local printer
4. choose CANON manufacturer
5. choose Pixma multipass MP180 with any of the two proposed drivers
6. confirm the choice and that is when the system replies it cannot
create the ppd file
>Fix:
the permission of the place where the newly created ppd is placed by
system should be changed to writable ;for now, users can use the
foomatic-ppdfile command
