This bug has previously been submitted as PR 6117. I can confirm this bug on VT3287A and Via VT3287S chipsets that were on Via C3 and Via C7 low power motherboards.
At install the bsd.rd kernel freezes at wdc_atapi_intr: warning: reading only 14 of 18 bytes on the VT 3287A and at wdc_atapi_intr: warning: reading only 0 of 18 bytes on the VT3287S There are basically 3 Vendors of mini-itx boards: Intel n270, n330, n410, n510, n525 which work. Via ITX C3/C7 do not work with more than 1 SATA drive- I have not tried any Via Nano based cpu's and Lastly the AMD Sempron LE-1250 - which I also have not tried. It may be a buggy chipset but it is still being made and most of user are now purchasing SATA drives rather than IDE drives. If it is not an easy fix I would suggest that the http://www.openbsd.org/i386.html http://www.openbsd.org/amd64.html web pages as well as the man pages for pciide and atapiscsi pages say something to that effect. It is irritating to research the chipset prior to a purchase and not be able to run OpenBSD. Thanks for maintaining OpenBSD. J.
