The problem is persistent and occur in both 4.8 release and 4.9 current (Mar 20) snapshot.
There is limited connectivity when em1 is used. When connected to an auto negotiated port on Netgear GS108 switch, hardcoded 100baseTX full-duplex mode works; others do not seem to work. Not tested using em2. Some other symptoms include not being able to sense the link status and show active even when the link is physically disconnected; when set 100baseTX half-duplex through ifconfig em1, works but reports 100baseTX full-duplex.
