With these modifications to /etc/sysctl.cnf:
machdep.allowaperture=2 # See xf86(4)
machdep.lidsuspend=1 # laptop lid closes cause a suspend
On my Macbook Air 11 inch (model 5,1) I am able to suspend, and then
wake from suspend when running XFCE 4.
If I try to suspend and then wake from suspend while running
on the console (i.e. before startx and after quitting xfce),
the console emits an infinite loop of errors like:
ehci_idone: ex=0xffff80000027d000 is done!
...[snip]
ehci_idone: ex=0xffff80000027d000 is done!
until I must force a hard reboot.

This problem is reproducible.

Unknown, or only try to sleep while in XFCE
