Could you describe in detail, what actions do you make and what errors
do you get? What's printed on the text console if you start K3b from
terminal and try to access optical drive? And, please, provide full
dmesg. Output of those commands may help to diagnose the problem, too:
id
ls -l /dev/{r,}cd0c /usr/local/bin/k3b
Also, please note that there is no such thing as K3b 4.x, there is
KDE4-based K3b 2.1 instead. ;)
