i updated from source initially. i had an X window open, and it
was unaffected at first. after trying to change to a console, it
was blank, and when trying to switch back to X the same. all
inputs still responded right, in both console and X, just no
output.
when booting with the snapshot, display was fine until after
login. everything from my .profile displays properly, but that
is when it ceases to display. text i type still outputs but
nothing else. starting X, xterm works fine. but when switching
back to console, even typed text doesn't display any more, and X
is blank again when switching back. all input still works properly,
from keyboard and mouse, in console or X.
logging in via ssh works fine.

boot with recent (16May+) snapshot, log in

i reverted to by 2 May build, everything is fine.
Theo already commited something, so maybe that fixes it. but here's
a stronger bug report just in case that's irrelevant.
