Hello Mark, thank you for follow up.

And that almost certainly is a kernel bug of > some sorts. Will try to hunt it down. > What was your last kernel that worked properly? short: I don't know long: I've "saved" the box from dumpster after lying on top of rack for like 7 years with Solaris 10. This is first OpenBSD installation and I got the panic running 5.7 release kernel compiling libressl errata and kernel (errata 6). I've tried to move the RAM modules around from slots 3,4 (3=128M module, 4=256M module) to (1=256M,2=128M i.e. bigger detected first) and so far wasn't able to reproduce the behavior. During the compilation I've gotten to 40M of swap use, so most of the RAM was used for programs or at least cache. I was able to successfully apply all errata for 5.7 both on softraid and single disk with different installation. I've also heard weird clicking noises from one of the 80G IDE HDDs, but after compiling smartmontools, it says that general SMART status is OK, but any further detailed info (ECC errors recovered, remapped sectors, temperature etc.) is missing. This might be misleading at this point, but just for completeness sake ... What can I do to help track this down further? I can donate the box and ship it somewhere, if it makes sense and would be helpful ... Thank you for your time and effort, Jan
