Using gtkam/libgphoto2 my Canon A590is is recognized in usbdevs and the
gtkam configuration interface. In gtkam, when I select the option to
add the 590 it hangs.

Using gphoto2 --config, it again hangs until I power off the camera and
get the following output

PooBear$ gphoto2 --config *** Error *** PTP I/O Error

*** Error *** An error occurred in the io-library ('I/O problem'): Could not query kernel driver of device. *** Error (-7: 'I/O problem') ***
For debugging messages, please use the --debug option.
Debugging messages may help finding a solution to your problem.
If you intend to send any error or debug messages to the gphoto
developer mailing list <[email protected]>, please run
gphoto2 as follows:

   env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=my-logfile.txt --config

Please make sure there is sufficient quoting around the arguments.

The camera worked fine in 5.7 and continues to work in Debian. I have
not problem mount usb thumb drives in 5.8.

If I can provide any other output let me know.
