The problem is that the sdmmc driver is not present in the RAMDISK kernel, ony in GENERIC. We have sdmmc in RAMDISK for arm and octeon. It should probably be added to amd64 (and i386?) RAMDISK as well.
Without the device in the RAMDISK kernel you won't be able to install. - todd
