Howdy. This sounds like a clock issue (I had one similar on my ThinkPad E475, A10-9600P). In a console window (don't launch X for this), can you check your clock source: $ sysctl kern.timecounter.hardware If this returns back: tsc, try another clock source from ($ sysctl kern.timecounter.choice ); I would recommend acpihpet0 After you changed the clock source, start X and see if the problem is still there.
