I can confirm these two observations. I had no success in bisecting this because no kernel I built from -current (as of yesterday) with trees from any point in time between June 1 and June 7 was able to unhibernate. Then I installed the snapshot from June 3 (the one Solene mentioned was still able to unhibernate) and confirmed that it worked for me as well. I built and installed a current kernel on top of it (last commit from jmatthew "Handle AENs for logical disk creation and deletion.") and I had a system that could still unhibernate. Repeatedly. I don't know when RETGUARD landed in snaps, but if I read the icb logs correctly, I believe it's between the two snapshots that Solene mentioned, so I would expect this to be at least partly responsible.
