Recent-ish linux kernels seem to be unconditionally probing the PMC device at
address 0xFE001818, which causes an MMIO fault in vmm. If there is a way to opt
out of the intel "PMC" driver, it may help you here. That's probably a grub.cfg
setting / kernel command line parameter.
