There is an nvme diff in snaps, I have problems with it too.
I'll write-up my bits on this thread too to keep it together.

In my case I have / on sata, /tmp and some other dirs on nvme -
sysupgrade sees no disks (sd0 and sd1 attach ok) - if I boot the new
kernel directly it passes fsck ("file system is clean; not checking"),
mounting a filesystem from it succeeds, attempting to access data
on that fs results in "Input/output error".
