Aren't these mutually exclusive? I always see Thunderbolt BIOS Assist as
grayed out when Kernel DMA Protection is enabled.

Thanks for the response. :) I'll try these out and see if it helps
any. I've played around with machdep.allowaperture a bit (it's mentioned
in xf86(4) and the X1C7 uses a PCI graphics card), switching between
1 and 2.  I don't quite understand the ramifications of the
kern.allowkmem switch - I'll look at sysctl(2) first and try it once
I understand.

I forgot to mention that I'm using modesetting(4) these days, which is
something the earlier Xorg log dump doesn't reflect.
