Hello,
Thank you in advance for the time and assistance in resolving this issue. I
wanted to report that, upon installing or upgrading to 7.6 on a System76
Darter Pro 8 <https://tech-docs.system76.com/models/darp8/README.html>
laptop, the system freezes at the "entry point 0x1001000" notification
during boot and after entering a decryption passphrase. To elaborate, this
is an install on a 1 TB Samsung SSD and an encrypted UEFI/GPT scheme using
the guided installation script. This was first discovered when following
the unattended upgrade instructions
<https://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade76.html> for 7.6 exactly. Upon
attempting to reenter the OS after reboot, the freeze occurred, even when
attempting to boot alternatively into the system. After multiple attempts,
a reinstall with the same scheme was made; xenodm, GPT, encrypted, 1 TB
drive. The same issue occurred, which was not the case when reinstalling
7.5 on the same machine. I have not yet found a way to generate a report
when attempting to boot the system, although I had only recently started
using OpenBSD so there may be a means to accomplish this that I am not
privy to. Upon researching similar issues, I found that a similar incident
occurred between 6.7 and 6.8
<https://daemonforums.org/showthread.php?t=12432> due to a kernel size
value and was later remedied. Although the .img size for 7.6 is larger than
that of 7.5, I am aware that this may not be the cause. System76 support as
of now is unable to find nor resolve the issue. If there is any further
explanation I can provide to assist with locating and fixing the bug
despite the lack of report, let me know. Thank you very much in advance for
the help.
