Hello Stefan,

thank you.
I finally decided to install it in to a mini pc (alderlake, dual boot with mx-23 as first os).
The intel drm module works fine here.

I have another problem though.

My mini pc (nipogi ak2-plus) supports 2 drives a m.2 (sata-or-nvme, 6GB/s) + sata (3GB/s).

When installed in the m2 sata disk (hd1) it boots fine, but when installed in the secondary sata drive (which is listed as hd0 at efi boot) it fails to load the root partition.

If I have an USB pendrive attached, the drives are listed as hd0 (sata, openbsd) hd1 (m2) hd2 (pendrive) and openbsd starts normally. I am sure that the efi loader is the correct one fform the hd0 efi partition gpt1 because I have tried to load it both from Linux grub and from the pc efi settings.

When openbsd stops (no usb pendrive attached) with  panic: root filesystem has size 0

The dmesg reports that the drive is busy and is not online.

ahci0: device on port 0 didn't come ready TFD: 0x80<BSY>

It seems that having an usb pendrive attached wakes the hd0 drive up. (It only works with pendrive not with other usb devices like kb dongles and usb wifi adapters)

the hd0 drive also as Win11 installed as first OS (I know..., but I need it to update an external audio device drivers) and it boots fine with or without usb pendrive attached.

...strange!!!

Hello Crystal,

unluckily disabling efifb has no effect.

I attached the dmesg for both vbox installs.

Can you please also provide output of "pcidump -v" in both cases?

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks!

Hello,

I installed OpenBSD as guest in VirtualBox (7.1.x and 7.2.x) both using MBR
and EFI.
Please provide the dmesg from both installs.

The EFI  installation has troubles with the graphic driver:

dmesg | grep VGA
"VMware SVGA II" rev 0x00 at pci0 dev2 funcion 0 not configured

so that the wsdisplay0 at efifb0 is used instead of vga.
What happens if you disable the efifb driver in the bootloader?
