GCC has since at least version 6 the following option (-ffile-prefix-map
since version 8):

prefix-map
This way we can install the Newlib (and maybe libgcc, libgomp, libatomic,
libstdc++ sources) through the RSB in a prefix location and direct the
debugging information to this install location.
