You will need to add to an instantiation of a default IMFS allocator structure in cpukit/include/rtems/confdefs/libio.h and use it. That file will need a CONFIGURE_ feature macro(s?) to let the user override the default allocator. And, as you have noted, a new test for a user allocator.
