Incidentally, I have the same version of XQuartz installed on 10.10.5 and it creates symlinks: /usr/X11 -> /opt/X11 /usr/X11R6 -> /opt/X11 but those symlinks cannot be created on 10.11 for the aforementioned reason. -DrD-
