 this patch doesn't apply anymore, and I think it was reversed, and .. I
 don't get it.

 I *do* think I understand the original request: on the slave side,
 buildbot checks out the desired revision in a branch unconditionally named
 'master'.  The request is to, instead, check it out in a branch with the
 same name as that in upstream.
