buildbot 0.8.8 refuse to run on OS X 10.9 with Python 2.6.8 with the
following error

This is because the locale 'UTF-8' is invalid on OS X. Example of valid
locales: en_US.UTF-8
Is there any workaround, because locale.getdefaultlocale() produce the
correct values.
