Can anyone share their thoughts on what they will report back on the 835 in
the way of DRG if:
- you use an internal software package that takes specific elements
from the 837 (none of which is the true DRG) and then produces an internal
special DRG/code for pricing.
The questions are:
- can you continue to use the internal software to process, use these
special DRG/codes and determine the pricing?
- If these pricing DRG/codes are currently listed in
provider agreements, should they continue to be included?
- is it correct to NOT report back the DRG in the 835,
since it was not provided in the 837, was not used for pricing and the
special codes are not true DRGs?
