Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the message of the statement below.

Near the bottom of page six of the Data and Code Set document is the
statement:
. CDT-3 codes are only recognized on the 837D record.

As the paragraphs that follow this statement indicate, the Dental procedure
codes ('D' codes) are included in the HCPCS codes.
As such, they can be submitted in the 837P (SV101-1 = "HC") and even in the
837I (SV202-1 = "HC").
Isn't it possible and even likely that, for example, certain Oral Surgery or
Periodontal Surgery 'D' codes would be submitted on the 837P?

I'm not trying to solve the problem of which IG to use, nor am I trying to
solve the problem of 'overlap' codes. The statement above on its face is
incorrect.

Subject: Today's SNIP Business Issues Call

All,
There will be a Business Issues call this afternoon at 3:30 Eastern.
Call-in info is the same as previous calls; that is, 703-736-7290, access
code 1315330. Today's agenda includes an update from the Transactions
co-chairs call, a discussion of open items from the SNIP Issues Database
and a review of the latest draft of the Data and Code Set white paper. The
Sept 10 draft of that paper is attached; Liza Moran is expecting to join
our call about 4:00 for that discussion. Also attached is a list of Issues
Database items assigned to our group.
